Ivysaur is anything you want. It is a Pokemon. And as a Pokemon, it doesn't matter what it is, because it's special, unique, like everything else Sugimori has designed. It's special and unique, just like you :) It doesn't matter if it looks like a hedgehog, or a dinosaur, or even if it might be a frog. It is what it is, just like we are who we are.
