Another example: my company is an editorial company, NOT a publishing house, and we make this very, very clear right away and repeatedly. We do charge up front for our services, but again: not a publishing house. If we were to announce ourselves as a publisher and/or use similar lingo, and charge the fees, we’d be 1) dishonest and 2) in HUGE trouble
