    DoD ate my doodle... :-( spent 4 days on it too. The plane is a B-17 flying fortress, but interestingly the artist depicted an obsolete edition that doesn't have all the gun turrets that the most advanced version should. The B-17 bomber was known for carrying small bomb loads but durable enough to survive heavy damage and enough weaponry to actually be a threat to enemy interceptors. The capsule in the front is actually for the bombardier, not the pilot.

    You did a very good job with the gradations of the bomber jacket! It's tough working with the limited palette but you handled it very well. (The B17 cabin was unpressurized and unheated; during a typical mission the flight deck thermometer would hit -40 degrees, so the thick fleece+leather jackets were a necessity)
